General:
Perennial, tufted grass from short rhizomes; stems sometimes stoloniferous, (10) 20-80 cm tall.
Leaves:
Sheaths open; blades flat, rough short-hairy, 3-6 mm wide; ligules finely eroded, irregularly jagged, blunt, 1-3 mm long.
